At Chartwells, we believe wholeheartedly in the transformative effects of education – not just for the pupils and students we work alongside, but also our own people. That’s why we’ve committed to helping our trusted teams go further through the delivery of 200 apprenticeships.
By creating opportunities for our people to gain the confidence and skills to thrive in their chosen career, we know we’ll achieve more than just a satisfied, empowered workforce. We’ll also continue to attract the very best talent and deliver on our promise to be the UK’s leading education catering provider.
In the words of our Managing Director, Charlie Brown:
“There is a misconception that apprenticeships are solely for young people looking for entry level roles – this is absolutely not the case. We offer a range of different apprenticeship levels throughout the business, across a diverse range of functions, that are suitable for those of all ages, experience and backgrounds.
“This commitment demonstrates our intent in this area, but it is very much the start of an ambitious period for the company as we look to evolve and develop our team and services to meet the changing demands of our clients, customers and the market.”
Many successful candidates have already achieved incredible results as part of our apprenticeship scheme. This includes Gemma Burnett, who is currently working towards her Level 5 Operational Manager qualification and has already completed the Level 3 Team Leader programme.
On our apprenticeships, Gemma said:
“The initiative really has been transformative. Truth be told, when I first heard about apprenticeships I too had misconceptions about whether they were solely for entry level learners, but that could not be further from the truth. I would wholeheartedly urge more people to explore the opportunities that exist within apprenticeships.”
We announced our apprenticeship drive during Hospitality Apprenticeship Week 2021, and Chartwells is proud that this is part of Compass Group’s overarching strategy to empower the wider Compass family through tailored learning initiatives.
Compass Group’s apprenticeships roadmap offers structured learning and development programmes across England, Scotland and Wales. It presents opportunities to progress from Level 2 to Level 7 across all areas of the business.
Due to Compass Group UK & Ireland’s unwavering commitment to cultivating inclusive work environments, it was also named the BAME Apprenticeship Employer of the Year in 2021.
